Total pros with deep surf experience, but more than that—great energy, great instincts, and an authentic way of making you feel both comfortable and confident out there.The vibe was relaxed but focused. No touristy fluff, no cattle-call lessons—just solid coaching, real stoke, and a personalized approach that sets them apart from every other surf school we’ve seen.Perfect for families too. They had all of us—parents and teens—up and riding, cheering each other on, and making memories we’ll never forget. Local Boys is where it’s at. Thank you guys!

We had a great time with Jae and his crew! I found Jae by looking up safe surf lessons for kids in Kahalu'u, and this certainly did not disappoint. Starting with communication.. Jae made sure we were only booking on a good day for waves... very easy to talk to, he wants a good experience for all! With a 5, 6, and two 8 year old boys who are good swimmers but never surfed, it was great having the instructors each with the little boys on the boards.. I felt very safe with these professional surfers! The 8 year olds were doing great with one instructor. And all the boys caught so many waves! Now all they want to do is surf! The adults were able to tag along and float with everyone, and try to catch some waves too.. it was great for all of us! Highly recommend and we will be back!

As a first time surfer I can't say enough good things about this company. Jonah was our instructor and he was able to guide me into standing up pretty quickly into my surf lesson. Very patient and understanding. Very kind person which relieved all the fears I had going into this surfing class. This experience made me want to come back for more. Highly recommend it !!

We had the pleasure to have lessons with Jae and Jonah in Kona. My 8 year old went with Jae and Jonah taught my 12 and 13 year old. They all loved it and caught so many waves that I kept missing taking photos when I looked down to check what I already had. Jae and Jonah were great with the kids and were careful and thoughtful about their safety. They knew where to surf, when to start paddling, and made the kids confident to try to do most of the work with maybe a light push at the end if they werent quite up to wave speed. We will be calling Jae and Jonah the next time we are in Kona and have already recommended them to people we meet.

After a weekend of rough waves cancelling our snorkeling outings, I was scrambling to find something for my family to experience. I called around to find a last minute surfing lessons for my daughters and Jae came through big time! My girls loved it so much they are now asking for their own surfboards. Jae made the whole experience fun and kept it safe for them. I know there are a lot of great instructors in Kona but I recommend anyone interested to give Jae a call first.

I am 70 years old. Always wanted to try surfing and what better place to learn than here in Kona, while on vacation.Had a blast with Jae. He made the whole experience fun. Learned so much about the sport and even stood up once or twice.He is a true professional coach and made sure I was safe at all time. He did all the hard work and set me up for each wave so I didn't have to think about anything other than "catching the wave."Spending time with Jae out on the waves was one of the most fun and memorable times of our very memorable vacation.Thanks, Jae!
